Grace, the Webster Dictionary states: “unmerited divine assistance given humans for their regeneration or sanctification; a virtue coming from God; a state of sanctification enjoyed through divine grace; approval , favor; disposition to or an act or instance of kindness , courtesy, or clemency; a pleasing appearance or effect.”
Mercy, the Webster Dictionary states: “compassion or forbearance shown especially to an offender or to one subject to one’s power; lenient or compassionate treatment; a blessing that is an act of divine favor or compassion; a fortunate circumstance; compassionate treatment of those in distress.”
Grace and Mercy both shows love. Grace shows favor and generous love, while Mercy shows forgiveness and compassionate love. We must understand that Grace and Mercy or twins that we are not deserving of, but God loves us so much that He gives us Grace and Mercy daily. God blesses us with many gifts in spite of what we have done and not deserving of. We all need humility in order to embrace Grace and Mercy, because they free us from being prideful and having a rebellious heart.
There are several stories in the bible that shows God's Grace and Mercy, from the Old and New Testament for instance:
David, by forgiving him for his adultery with Bathsheba and having her husband killed (2 Samuel 11-12)
Peter, who was temperament and denied Jesus, yet was used by God to preach His word and 3,000 were saved. ( Acts 2: 14-42)
Rehab was a prostitute and hidden two spies also received grace and mercy from the Lord, by her faith (Joshua 2)
There are many more examples:
* Barabbas was a criminal
* Thomas was a doubter
* Moses was stubborn and doubtful
* Jacob was a cheater
* Saul was a persecutor
Overall, if God shown His love to so many others in the past, He is willing and able to do the same for us today.
