9 Elements to a Spiritual Life

Updated: Sep 22, 2020

PRAY like Nehemiah

Pray like you know God will answer you;

Nehemiah said three things about God:

You are great – that’s God’s position.

You are awesome – that shows God’s power.

You keep your promises – that’s God’s covenant.

The first thing Nehemiah does is acknowledge who God is – that’s what praise is.

Acknowledge who God is and His greatness. Nehemiah starts off by getting the right perspective.

Nehemiah 1:4-11

OBEY like Daniel

Just as Daniel purposed in his heart, we must also determine that whatever comes our way, we’re not going to forfeit what we know is acceptable in the sight of God. Dare to Be Like Daniel. Daniel is a role model, an example to us of the power of one person to make a difference.

Daniel 1-6

LEAD like Moses

We develop that humility, when we listen and learn.

Speaking directly to the Lord demonstrates a key characteristic of Moses: he was a man of faith; he was convinced that God would do whatever he promised to do.

Exodus 32:1-14, 30-32

SERVE like Martha

In Luke 10:40-41, Martha is found serving

Martha had a servant heart, and her love language was acts of service

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

LOVE like Mary

Mary’s was humble. Say yes to His will, a pure heart, sacrifice and have unshakable faith. We should all be striving to draw closer to God’s will and further from the sin that keeps us from receiving His merciful love.

John 19:26-27

FIGHT like David

David was careful to follow the commands of the Lord, even during battle.

David was constantly inquiring of the Lord for guidance.

There are some lessons to be learned from David’s life:

  • 1. Beware of idleness.

  • 2. Beware of exposing nakedness.

  • 3. Beware of letting the eyes and mind dwell on sinful things.

  • 4. Never think that unconfessed sin can be covered up.

  • 5. Beware of thinking, “It can’t happen to me.”

1 Samuel 17

BUILD like Noah

Noah was a righteous man, and he “walked with God”. God chose Noah for a special assignment, to build an ark. Noah obeyed God’s command, under very trying circumstances. He endured humiliation and mockery from those who thought he was a fool for building an ark in a desert on dry land with no rain in sight. In spite of it all Noah kept building, and kept preaching to save those who would listen. We need to be like Noah, and listening to God words and keep building

Genesis 6:9

EDUCATE like Paul

Learn to lead

Learn to Follow

Learn to serve

Paul didn’t live to please man.

Paul was humble.

Paul was selfless.

Paul was focused on God’s calling in his life. He lived for the propagation of the Gospel. Paul ate, slept, and breathed evangelism.

LOVE like Jesus

Spend time praying, reading and meditate the word of God every day to understand the life of Jesus and the Love of Jesus. God lives in us

Pray

Live as God called us Follow Christ's teachings. Love your neighbors Stick to good and to righteousness

Jesus is our forerunner; He lived the life, and made footsteps for us to follow.

Grace and Mercy

Grace is getting what we don’t deserve, and mercy is not getting what we do deserve. Mercy and grace are similar but not the same. Putting it simply, grace is getting what we don’t deserve and mercy i
